Memphis is taking a step to clean up its streets. Starting next month, the city will start a new program to pick up large objects outside homes twice a month during regular trash pick up. The city is using 15-million dollars from its reserve fund to hire 70 workers and buy equipment for the new effort. Mattresses, couches, chairs and other large items will be collected on the first and third or second and fourth weeks of the month, depending on where people live.
