SOUTHAVEN, MS – The Mayor and Board of Aldermen in Southaven declare a Civil Emergency, adopting the following emergency measures, effective 5:00 pm on March 22, 2020, until further notice:
- All restaurants are limited to drive-through, take-out, curbside, or delivery methods. No common dining or bar facilities
- All bars, nightclubs, lounges, taverns, gyms, theaters, salons, and recreational or amusement facilities must close.
- businesses, clubs, organizations, places of worship, or other gatherings in the city must limit crowds to 10 people or less. This order excludes hospitals, nursing homes, post offices, distribution centers, manufacturers of essential supplies, health clinics, drug stores, pharmacies, banks, grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, daycares, hardware stores, and retail spaces over 4,000 square feet.
- Violations may be subject to misdemeanor prosecution
The measures are designed to protect the public health, safety, and welfare of the community from the spread of a contagious or infectious disease (COVID-19) and eliminate or limit injuries or deaths that may occur.
