A team appointed by a federal judge to monitor the Memphis Police Department will speak at a public forum this week. The team headed up by former U.S. Attorney Ed Stanton is charged with making sure the MPD is in compliance with a 40-year-old consent decree relating to conducting political intelligence. Police were found to be in violation of the consent decree by spying on protesters through the use of a fake social media account. The Community Engagement Forum is Thursday night at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church on North Bellevue.
