There has been some confusion as to when Halloween is being celebrated (because of the expected bad weather).

Olive Branch has decided to celebrate on October 31st, as usual.  Mayor Musselwhite of Southaven posted the following:

Due to the weather forecast for rain and thunderstorms Wednesday night, I’ve received calls requesting that I change the night for “trick or treating” to Tuesday night. It’s important to communicate that, as Mayor, I don’t have the authority to change holidays or traditions. However, with hopes of making a good suggestion for our citizens, I would recommend that residents be prepared for children on Tuesday night and neighborhood organizations communicate directly with their neighbors regarding their plans.

The City’s “Trunk or Treat” event at Snowden Grove Park has been moved up to Tuesday night from 5:00-8:00 for this very reason.

Please slow down while driving at night this week and watch out for our children. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Halloween!

From Hernando Chamber:

Due to the chance of rain, many Hernando subdivisions are moving trick-or-treating to Tuesday night instead of Wednesday. The following subdivisions have changed their trick-or-treating:

-Forest Meadows
-Forked Creek Estates
-Fountain Gate
-Grove Park Estates
-Ivy Manor
-Lakes of Cedar Grove
-Lees Summit
-Magnolia Drive
-Magnolia Manor
-Notting Hill
-Pecan Estates
-Robertson Square
-St. Ives
-Vaiden Ridge
-Winningham Estates

We believe Horn Lake, Walls and Lake Cormorant are proceeding with Halloween as scheduled.
